Our Charred Oak herringbone laminate captures the deep smoky grey-black tones and subtle ash variation of properly burnt and brushed oak, in a 12mm AC4-rated laminate built for everyday life.

Each plank measures 600mm × 100mm × 12mm with an embossed-in-register texture that follows the natural grain of the underlying decor — meaning the surface feels right under the eye and under bare feet, not slick and printed-looking like cheaper laminates.

What Charred Oak actually looks like

Charred Oak is our darkest shade in the 12mm Herringbone Premium range. The base tone is a deep, slightly cool grey-black, with subtle ash and silver highlights running through the grain. Under warm interior lighting it reads as a rich smoky charcoal; in daylight or under cooler bulbs it shifts towards a true charred-timber black. It pairs particularly well with cream upholstery, brass and gold accents, warm wood furniture, and stone-coloured walls.

Where Charred Oak works best

Dark herringbone is a confident design choice. It works exceptionally well in larger, well-lit rooms where the floor can be a feature rather than a backdrop — kitchens with cream or sage cabinetry, dining rooms with brass lighting, hallways with white walls, and open-plan living areas. In smaller rooms or rooms with limited natural light, consider Desert Oak or Greige Oak instead.
